Carmen Molina (Barcelona, 1991) is a filmmaker and cinematographer who has built her career at the intersection of documentary and visual storytelling.

Her academic foundation is rooted in photography, specializing in the Postgraduate in Documentary Essay at IEFC Barcelona. In 2021, she was awarded a scholarship for the Master’s Degree in Creative Documentary at UPF Barcelona, followed by advanced training in the Cinematography Master at ESCAC Film School.

Molina’s work has been recognized for its depth and delicacy. She received the Special Mention in the Young Creators Award from the Francesca Bonnemaison entity twice—in 2020 for “Arrabal” and again in 2023 for “Aluminio”. In 2022, she co-directed and shot the short documentary “Latència”, produced by 15L Films, which won Acció Curts from Dones Visuals and earned selections at the VOC Awards and numerous national and international festivals, including K-Lidoscopi, TEFF, and Brain Film Fest.
Among its accolades was Best Documentary Short at the Inclús Festival, sponsored by CaixaForum.
As a cinematographer, Molina has lent her visual expertise to projects that explore social and cultural narratives. Her credits include “Cuerpo y Ciudad”, directed by Lorena Ros and produced by Testamento, which received the Art for Change grant from LaCaixa Foundation and was selected for development labs such as SSIFF and Zinebi. She also worked on “Decían que era bruja” —where she also served as editor— which premiered at Directed by Women Madrid and was selected for the MAFIZ Festival de Málaga, among many others.

In 2023, she expanded into the world of live performance, working as a camerawoman on the international tour of singer Bad Gyal. The following year, she premiered “Until He’s Back”, a documentary by Jaqueline Baylon, produced by Scripps News and PBS. The film received the Best Documentary Short Award at Big Sky, Hamptons and DOC NYC, was nominated for the IDA Documentary Awards, and Shortlisted for the 97th Academy Awards.

Her work has been featured by leading media outlet such as National Geographic, Eldiario.es or Forbes, and she collaborates with organizations including Open Society Foundation, Mapfre Foundation, and various NGOs. She is also a member of Women Photograph and Dones Visuals.
